Paul SHerman, PTPaul Sherman, PT

Paul graduated from the University of Washington school of Physical Therapy cum laude, and while in graduate school was awarded the prestigious Alumni Club scholarship for academic excellence.  Paul has been a Washington State licensed Physical Therapist practicing in Anacortes for over 16 years.

Having practiced in many settings, Paul and his wife Laurie, a therapeutic recreational specialist, decided to open their own practice in 2000. In 2005 they completed the building of their current state-of-the-art clinic with its convenient downtown Anacortes location.

In his Physical therapy practice, Paul is very interested in posture and how compensations affect function and can cause pain. He is a certified Egoscue Postural Alignment Specialist. He has suffered from back pain since high school and has had numerous injuries. He believes that all medical treatments have a place, but has gained the most good in his own life from exercise, and specifically the Egoscue Method.

Paul recently completed level II of Neurokinetic Therapy (NKT). This amazing method helps to identify abnormal muscle patterns that contribute to pain. Creating new patterns is easy if you know what to change.

Paul also has continued to progress with his Egoscue training and is now an Advanced Exercise Therapist which is the most advanced level they offer. The Egoscue Method works with NKT to provide the proper exercises to get muscles functioning again.

Paul has a new bike, the Vendetta V20 (www.cruzbike.com). The world’s most sophisticated recumbent bicycle is perfect for serious bike riders who are limited by back and neck pain.

Paul is married with two grown children. He skis, bikes, and hikes in the mountains. He is a member of the Skagit Bike Club, a past president of the Skagit Alpine Club and assists with the mountaineering course.  He also plays music semi-professionally in several bands (bass and mandolin).  He has been a volunteer trainer for the Anacortes high school soccer team and continues to be a soccer fan. He has lived in the Northwest since 1973.
